Jose R. Torres, of Monroe, passed away on November 19, 2013, husband of Ines Torres with whom he had been married for 74 years.
He was born on July 12, 1915 in Havana, Cuba and came to the United States in 1966. He worked at Reads and Macy's department stores as well as Handy and Harman.
He was a very proud father and grandfather to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters: Terri Vellotti of Monroe and Ines Posada and her husband Luis, of Monroe. He also leaves behind grandchildren Trudy and James Dodge of Monroe, Miryam and Kevin Kuligowski of Sandy Hook, Luis and Marigan Posada of Maryland, Ryan and Dori Arias of Woodbridge and Maritza and David Matlachowski of Monroe and his eight great grandchildren James, Christopher, Ashley, Abigail, Karlie, Paz, Zachary and Reyah.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Burial immediately followed in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Online condolences may be made at www.spadaccinofuneralhome.com
