James DeVivo, 89, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, in St. Vincent Medical Center.

MONROE, CT — James DeVivo, 89, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, in St. Vincent Medical Center. James was born in Bridgeport on April 8, 1927, and was the son of the late Michael and Rose DeVivo. James was a life-long area resident and long-time employee of Bridgeport Machines, as a toolmaker.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary, brothers, Carl, Frank and Mike, and sisters, Mary, Louise, Francis and Jean, James is survived by his son James J. DeVivo of Monroe and Carol Timpanelli and her husband, Paul, of Trumbull, as well as several nieces and nephews.
James was very proud of his World War II service in the U.S. Navy and always spoke fondly of his time in the Pacific and his admiration for the people of Guam. A memorial mass was held at St. Jude's Church on Route 111 in Monroe, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17. Interment will be private.
