In Monroe, 32 Percent Still Without Power
Firefighters are urging caution as some power lines remain down.

MONROE, CT --- Power utility Eversource is reporting that 2,544 of the town's population of 7,929 remain without power at noon the day after severe storms and tornadoes swept through the area.
The town's firefighters responded to over a dozen emergency calls including a tree on a house, smoke odor inside three homes, a motor vehicle accident, and wires down. At the height of the storm, Monroe Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, with the assistance of Stepney Fire Department and Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company, reported on social media that they had over 20 volunteer firefighters staffing the station and all trucks operating at simultaneous calls during the store.
Firefighters are still urging caution as there continues to be trees and live wires down across town and closed roadways. Motorists are advised not to drive through any cones or barrier tape, nor get close to any downed wires.
