Monroe Chamber of Commerce Names New Officers, Directors

New officers and directors were named at the Chamber's annual dinner.

MONROE, CT -- The Monroe Chamber of Commerce held its annual dinner and business meeting at Roberto's Restaurant on June 13, the Monroe Courier has reported.

The Chamber took the opportunity of the annual dinner to hand out six awards:

  • Newest Business — Law offices of Bellenot & Boufford Law Firm.
  • Longevity with the Chamber — Supporting member for 20 years, Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home
  • Philanthropy — The Headquarters of Newtown Savings Bank for sponsoring events and activities in Monroe, Danbury, Bethel and Trumbull.
  • Achievement/ Recognitions — The Bolt Shop was named in the top 10 Quilt Shops in America, according to the American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine
  • Annual Chamber Scholarship Award — Ryan Shaw, senior at Masuk High School.
  • Continued sponsor — Alicia Faye accepted for Seymour Sheridan, longest sponsor of the chamber’s golf tournament.

Following the awards, election of officers and directors was held. The officers for 2018-20 are:

  • President, Ray Giovanni, Union Savings Bank;
  • Vice-President, Jan Snyder, Newtown Savings Bank;
  • Treasurer, Janice Butler, CPA;
  • and Secretary, Tom Burns, bank manager, M&T Bank.

The new directors for 2018-20 are:

  • Tom Burns, bank manager, M&T Bank;
  • Jim Weinberg, Safe Harbor Tanker Chartering;
  • and Previn Patel, Insurance Services of Monroe.
