Monroe Firefighters Extinguish Chimney Fire

Firefighters remind residents to have their chimneys periodically cleaned.

MONROE, CT — Monroe volunteer firefighters extinguished a chimney fire on Shelton Road Sunday.

Passing motorists called 911 to report the fire. Firefighters managed to keep the fire contained to the chimney, according to the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page.

Firefighters remind residents to have their chimney periodically cleaned to remove creosote build up.
