Monroe Food Pantry is in Urgent Need of Supplies

The Monroe Food Pantry is in urgent need of non-perishable goods to help those in need in the community.

MONROE, CT — First Selectman Steve Vavrek said that the Monroe Food Pantry is in urgent need of supplies and is seeking help from the community. Monroe Food Pantry Director Wendy Jolls said they are down about 30 percent on all donations, including food and cash.

The Monroe Food Pantry has over 274 Monroe families who experiencing financial hardship and is in need of assistance going into Thanksgiving and into this holiday season, Jolls said. "The demand for food has never been greater than it is today. With donations down and the number of clients up we are looking for your help to support this program," Jolls said.

Below is a list of items that they are in need of:

  • Juice (apple, Cranberry, low sugar)
  • Solid White Tuna, in water
  • Canned Chicken
  • Chicken Broth (regular, low sodium, low fat)
  • Tomatoes (crushed, diced, sauce, whole, regular and low sodium)
  • Tomato Paste
  • Cooking Oil (canola or safflower)
  • Granola Bars
  • Mayonnaise (regular, low fat)
  • Salad Dressing
  • Applesauce
  • Pineapple
  • Ready to serve soups (Progresso, Healthy Choice)
  • Canned Vegetables (regular and low sodium)
  • Pancake Mix complete
  • Syrup (regular and sugar free)
  • Cereal (regular and low sugar)
  • Pasta (shells, bow ties, whole wheat any)
  • Coffee and Tea (ground and Instant, decaf)
  • Jelly or Jam (sugar free also needed)
  • Pasta Roni, Suddenly Salad
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup (regular and low sodium)
  • Rice (Brown or White)
  • Chef Boyardee Canned Pasta
  • Diapers size 3, 4, and 5
  • Enfamil Baby Formula
  • Baby Food
  • Other items needed but cannot be purchased with Food stamps
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Soap and Shower Gels
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Paper Product
  • Household Cleaners
  • Gift Cards to purchase fresh or frozen produce, Milk and Meat
