Monroe Man Arrested By Newtown PD For Second Time In A Month
The suspect was arrested by the department on a host of motor vehicle charges related to police chases, according to authorities.
NEWTOWN, CT — A 27-year-old Monroe man, who Newtown police said has repeatedly fled from officers, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday charging him with numerous motor vehicle violations.
Tuesday's arrest of Zachery Krajewski was his second in a month, Newtown police said. In this case, which dates back to March, Krajewski was charged with interfering with an officer, engaging police in pursuit, reckless operation, driving with a suspended license, and not carrying insurance, among other violations.
"This particular arrest, stems from an incident that occurred in March, when Officer Adam James was on patrol and observed Krajewski parked at a local business on Queen Street," Newtown police wrote on Facebook. "Ofc. James recognized Krajewski and was aware that the Newtown Police had an outstanding warrant for him, from a previous incident in January, where Krajewski also engaged police in a pursuit and had multiple other motor vehicle related charges."

As the officer tried to arrest Krajewski from the January incident, Krajewski fled again and led police on a chase.
"Both pursuits were called off almost immediately, as Krajewski fled from police in a reckless manner, passing cars and driving in the opposite lane at a high rate of speed his actions presented a danger to the general public and hence the pursuits were stopped," police said. "If not for the thorough and extensive investigations conducted by Ofc. James, Krajewski might have gotten away."
