Monroe Man Charged After Allegedly Firing Weapon Early Sunday

A Monroe resident has been charged with illegally discharging a firearm after officers responded to reports of gunshots on Sunday.

MONROE, CT – A Monroe resident has been charged with illegally discharging a firearm after officers responded to reports of gunshots on Sunday.

Luis Murillo, 50 of Spring Hill Road, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, according to The Trumbull Times.

Monroe and Trumbull police departments received complaints about gunshots on the town line just after 3 a.m. on Sunday. Police found Murillo in the backyard of the property with targets set up against a wood pile, the Times reported. The targets appeared to have bullets holes. in the wood and shell casings on the ground.

Murillo posted a $500 bond and is due in Bridgeport court on Sept. 2.
