Monroe Parks & Rec Offers ArtSmart! Summer Series

MONROE, CT -- The Parks and Recreation Department has announced it is partnering with Kathy Vincent of ArtSmart! Studio to provide a series of week-long workshops in July for children ages 7-14.

Vincent has offered art and crafting workshops for Pre-K through adult students, individual and group lessons, after school enrichment, art badge work for scouts, library programs, corporate events and creative celebrations for all ages, for 17 years. Additionally, she holds an art teaching position for the Diocese of Bridgeport as a member of the faculty of St. Theresa School.

The programs are:

ArtSmart! Studio "The Glorious Garden," July 09-13: A week-long filled with fine art and crafting inspired by the garden. Projects will include "Farmers Market" still life, botanical illustration, birdhouses, printmaking, decoupage, mosaics and more.

ArtSmart! Studio "Art Around The World II," July 16-20: A week-long program of fine art and crafting will celebrate the beautiful art from cultures around the world. Young artists are invited to pack up their paint and palettes and embark on a creative journey around the globe. Stops will include Asia, Africa, Italy, Australia, France, Sweden, Polynesia and more.

ArtSmart! Studio "Mixed Media Masterpieces," July 23-27: Experiment with and explore the endless creative combinations of art media...watercolor, pastel, printing, collage, wood, wire, stitchery, sculpture, and more. Projects will include mixed media chipboard album, decorative accents for the home and thematic art that encourage personal expression and interpretation of masterworks...plus, a new twist on action painting.
