Monroe Police Department Looks To Hire 2 Officers

One is an entry level position, and the other is for an experienced officer.

MONROE, CT — The Monroe Police Department is looking to fill two full-time officer positions, one for an entry level officer, and the other for an experienced one, according to authorities.

Starting salary for the experienced position is $61,650, but the job could pay as much as $77,934 depending on experience. Salary for the entry level post ranges between $56,955 and $71,998.

Requirements include candidates must be U.S. citizens, be at least 21 years old and reside within 20 miles of Monroe Police Headquarters. Applicants also must be high school graduates or receivers of a General Education Development diploma.

Candidates must pass physical and written tests to apply, and will spend time at the state's police academy for training after being accepted.

Additionally, applicants cannot have any felony or Class A or B misdemeanor convictions, nor can they have been dishonorably discharged from military service.

Also, candidates cannot have consumed marijuana within three years of applying, and cannot have taken any other illegal drug within 10 years of applying.
