Monroe Police Suggest Solutions for Dangerous Intersection
The treacherous intersection has been the location of 57 motor vehicle accidents, two of which had fatalities, since 2000.

MONROE, CT --- The Monroe Board of Police Commissioners have announced they are considering remedies for improving traffic flow at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Route 110, an area that has been the location of 57 motor vehicle accidents, two of which had fatalities, since 2000.
In a unanimous decision, the board approved a suggestion of Police Chief John Salvatore, which calls for the installation of two “stop ahead” warning signs along Wheeler Road south of Route 110, two oversized stop signs on both sides of the intersection of Wheeler Road and Route 110, and a “double arrow” sign on the opposite side of Route 110.
As Route 110 is a state highway, the new recommended measures would be responsibility of the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
