Monroe Readies for New Roundabout: VIDEO

The $4 million roundabout will replace that flashing yellow light at the intersection of Routes 111 and 110.

MONROE, CT - A $4 million roundabout will replace that flashing yellow light at the intersection of Routes 111 (Monroe Turnpike) and 110 (Shelton Road) next month on or about June 4.

Traffic drums and signs will be positioned and will guide traffic through the new roundabout configuration. The Connecticut Department of Transportation is reminding motoriststhat vehicular traffic approaching the roundabout is required to yield to traffic in the roundabout and that traffic in the roundabout has the right of way.

The project is designed to improve safety at the intersection which has a high-frequency history of motor vehicle crashes. With the construction of the roundabout, a reduction in the number of accidents is anticipated, as well as an overall safety improvement at the intersection.
