Richard Walter Tuttle, age 81, beloved husband of Katherine Casey Tuttle of Monroe,
died peacefully on July 20, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Born in Kingsbury, Maine on January 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Harold and Gertrude
O. Gourley Tuttle. Mr. Tuttle was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and worked as a
Foreman and Manager for the Sturm, Ruger & Co. of Southport for 34 years, until his retirement
in 2000.

An avid outdoorsman, sportsman and naturalist, he loved the great outdoors - a passion
instilled within him in his younger years residing in rural Maine. Mr. Tuttle handcrafted detailed
birdhouses to resemble your home, enjoyed tending to his garden and maintaining his meticulous
yard and landscape. He will be long remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather
that freely gave of his time to his family and friends to help in any way possible. In addition to
his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Catherine (Robert) Wojiski of
Newtown and Susan (David) Forte of Monroe; sister, Marion (Lionel) Goodrich of Killingworth;
a brother, James (Sheryl) Tuttle of FL; brothers-in-law, Albert “Sonny” Martin of ME and Paul
(Jeanette) Casey of Bridgeport; cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Bond, Sarah Bond,
Jessica Wojiski, Brianna (Fiancé Jennifer) Forte and David Forte; great grandchildren, Cullen
and Hadley Bond and Julianna Rossi; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was
predeceased by sisters, Virginia (Robert) Lashon and Anna Martin. A Memorial Mass will be
celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St.,
Trumbull. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe
Volunteer Emergency Medical Service, 54 Jockey Hollow Rd, Monroe, CT 06468. The
Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia, is in care of arrangements.
