A Monroe woman and a Danbury man turned themselves into the police on weapons charged connected to the theft of a shotgun last October.
MONROE, CT — A man and woman turned themselves in at Police HQ on Monday on charges connected to the theft of a shotgun last October.
The Monroe Police Department were called to investigate a report of a burglary in progress at a Nickel Place residence. The complainant, Kathryn Lewis, 26, of Monroe, told police that an unknown person had stolen a shotgun from the garage, and that her boyfriend, Sean Smith, 27, of Danbury had given pursuit but was unable to catch the thief.
Following further investigation, police say they determined that Smith and Lewis had staged the burglary to cover up their own theft of the shotgun, and secured a warrant for the couple's arrest.
