Popular CT Television Station Makes Lots Of On-Air Changes

Fox61 has seen several recent comings-and-goings.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut's popular Fox affiliate, Fox61, underwent some spring-cleaning this month, as some staffers left the station, one returned, and another was recovering from surgery.

As first reported by The Laurel, Jill Konopka, who returned to Connecticut's airwaves this spring, left the station, also known as WTIC-TV, to join Massachusetts-based Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America this week as its communications director.

Also, veteran reporter Dave Puglisi recently left, but he's still part of the family of Fox stations with his new role at Florida's Fox35 Orlando affiliate.

While part of the Connecticut scene, Puglisi says he filed more than 600 stories.

"It’s been an honor to tell your stories Connecticut!" he wrote on Twitter. "As my home, you know I’ll be back soon."

Last week, one of WTIC's weekend anchor/reporters Kainani Stevens also left, but she has not yet announced where she will land.

"So thankful for all the athletes, coaches and journalists I've worked with along the way," she wrote on Twitter. "New England is always home so you know I'll be back to check out Gampel when it's packed again."

Earlier this month, photographer Ryan Bernat returned to the station after a three-year stint downstate at WTNH-TV. He's now Fox61's chief photographer, the place where he spent nearly a decade before his move to Channel 8.

"Excited for this new challenge," Bernat wrote on Twitter.

And finally, here's wishing Tony Terzi a continued recovery. The veteran Connecticut journalist recently underwent bilateral inguinal hernia surgery, according to The Laurel.
