Reconstruction Of Pepper Street In Monroe Announced
Officials announce the start of the construction phase of the project, which is expected to be completed by the summer of 2021.
MONROE, CT — Officials are announcing the start of the construction phase of the reconstruction of Pepper Street in Monroe. The project limits include the intersection of Main Street (Route 25)/North Pepper Street, and Pepper Street from Cambridge Drive to Grant Road. The project is 90 percent funded through state and federal grants, according to officials.
“Utility work will begin shortly, and road reconstruction activities will soon follow by the middle of June, 2020,” officials wrote in a news release. “The project is currently scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2021. Although local and emergency access will be maintained at all times, there will be some periods of alternating traffic.”
The project, which has been in the design phase for several years, involves reconstruction of 4,500 linear feet on Pepper Street for “safety improvements, culvert replacements, roadway drainage improvements and paving, minor widening and a multi-use trail improvement from the Northbrook Condos to Grand Road,” the Connecticut Post previously reported.
