GOP Incumbents Re-Elected to Lead the School Board

Monroe Board of Education members chose the same three officers to lead the newly elected board Monday night. The votes were along party-lines with Republicans Darrell Trump winning the chairmanship, Donna Lane elected as vice chairman and Mark Hughes as secretary.

Republicans hold a 6-3 majority over Democrats on the school board and all votes were 6 to 3.

Alan Vaglivelo nominated fellow Democrat Lee Crouch for all three positions, but the nominations went down one-by-one.

After the voting, Crouch said, "I'm personally disappointed that after 10 years being the most tenured board member, I wasn't given the opportunity to be in a leadership position. It's about kids, not politics."
