Schedule Yearly Monroe Curbside Bulk Waste Pickup
Sign ups for free bulk waste removal start Sept. 15.
Monroe’s curbside bulk waste pickup will be available from November to March of next year but residents must sign up between mid-September and the end of October.
Each Monroe residence gets one free bulk removal a year, intended for large items that can’t be thrown in the regular trash. Starting Sept. 15, residents can request an appointment online or by calling Public Works at 203-452-2814.
Residents will get a letter in the mail 7 days before their appointment, complete with instructions.
When the time comes for pickup, all items should be placed in separate piles at the curb. Mixed piles will not be picked up.
Refrigerators and freezers must be emptied with the doors removed.
Crews will not accept garbage, recyclables, clothes, paint, items more than 6 feet long, fuels (gas, diesel, kerosene), leaves, brush, small electronics (free disposal at Garder Road Landfill), hazardous waste, oil tanks, oxygen tanks or demolition materials (concrete, plywood, sheetrock, shingles, dry cement, ceramic tile, brick, etc.).
