Severe Thunderstorm Watch, Flash Flood Warning In Effect for Monroe

BREAKING: Severe thunderstorms are set to hit the area Thursday afternoon.

MONROE, CT — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Monroe and the rest of Fairfield County as of 1:55 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. for most of the state.

There is also a flash flood watch in effect from 2 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.

  • Today: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
  • Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 10pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10pm and 4am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 4am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 64. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
