Snow Day in Monroe? Homemade 'Slime' and 'Dough' Will Keep The Children Busy
Two crafts using household items can keep the kids busy on snow days.

So it's snowing out and there is no school. The kids are stuck in the house and are beginning to bounce off the walls. They need to get occupied.
Here are a couple of crafts — homemade slime and modeling "dough" — that utilize items found in various cabinets throughout the house and are sure to keep the kids busy during and after the manufacturing process.
Here is a recipe for modeling dough, courtesy of McKenzie's Foods:

Mix all the ingredients in a saucepan and stir over medium heat for 3-to-5 minutes, until the mixture congeals.
- 2 tbs cooking oil
- 4 tbs McKenzie's Cream of Tartar
- 2 cups plain flour
- 1 cup salt
- Food coloring
- 2 cups water

- Squeeze about 4 ounces of glue into a glass bowl
- Mix in 1 1/2 bottles of warm water
- Add your food coloring, if desired
- Mix 1 teaspoon of Borax into 1/2 cup of water, and slowly add the solution to the glue mixture
- Stir in the Borax solution until the slime started to come together
- Knead the material
