Special Weather Statement Issued for Monroe Due to Strong Winds
Winds of up to 40 to 50 mph are likely between 6 - 9 a.m. which could cause downed tree limbs and power outages in the Monroe area.
MONROE, CT-- A "Special Weather Statement" has been issued by the National Weather Service for Fairfield County.
"STRONG WINDS GUSTS THIS MORNING... A STRONG COLD MOVING ACROSS THE REGION THIS MORNING WILL BRING RAIN AND SOUTHERLY WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS 30 TO 40 MPH AHEAD OF IT EARLY THIS MORNING. IMMEDIATELY IN ITS WAKE...A BRIEF PERIOD OF WESTERLY WINDS OF 20 TO 30 MPH WINDS WITH GUSTS TO 40 TO 50 MPH IS LIKELY BETWEEN 6 AND 9 AM. THE WINDS WILL CAUSE A FEW DOWNED TREE LIMBS AND ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. DRIVING HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES WILL ALSO BE DIFFICULT."

Breezy, with a northwest wind 14 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
- Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 15. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. West wind 7 to 9 mph.
- Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
- Thursday Night: A chance of snow, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18. Calm wind becoming northeast 5 to 7 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent.
- Friday: Snow likely, mainly before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 35. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
- Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.
