Thanksgiving 2016: What's Open, What's Closed in Monroe

MONROE, CT — The long Thanksgiving weekend means a 4-day break from work for some, and the beginning of the most hectic time of the year for others as retailers begin their Black Friday sales and specials.

Several chain restaurants like Applebee’s, will be open on Thanksgiving while others like The Olive Garden, and The Outback Steakhouse will be closed. Call ahead for specifics and making reservations. Chain stores like Toys ‘R Us, Macy's, Target and Best Buy will open the evening of Thanksgiving.

Here's a look at what's open and what's closed on Thanksgiving in the area:

Open:

• Stew Leonard's, Danbury, Norwalk
• Target, Bethel
• ALDI, Danbury, New Milford
• Shop Rite, Brookfield
• Walmart, Danbury

Remember to check with the location ahead of time to confirm store hours.

Closed:

• All post offices will be closed on Thanksgiving.
• All banks will be closed on Thanksgiving.
• There will be no UPS or Fedex deliveries on Thanksgiving.
