Bounce houses, carnival games, face painting and the sweet taste of cotton candy are just a few of the attractions for families going to Monroe Elementary School's annual Great Pumpkin Fair. The fall event is here again this Saturday.
"We have an inflatable obstacle course this year," Fran Welch said.
Welch and Melissa Hope are the co-chairs of the Fair Committee that planned the event, which will go on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Great Pumpkin Fair is the PTO's biggest fundraiser.
"Everything we raise goes back to the kids," Welch said.
Enrichment programs, family nights and supplementing funds for supplies and field trips are all ways the PTO assists the school system, according to Hope.
Saturday's fair will have a silent auction with prizes like four Disney Park Hopper tickets, an American Girl Doll and tickets to "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon".
Welch said local businesses were generous in donating prizes like gift certificates to restaurants and gym memberships. Mason's Farm Market donated mums, cornstalks and other decorations, as well as a pumpkin that fair goers can guess the weight of.
Children will also be able to paint their own pumpkins.
The Monroe Elementary School gym will be filled with vendors, including Pink Zebra, Origami Owl and Thirty-One Bags.
Jockapella, a group of local entertainers, will sing at noon, Monroe Dance Academy will perform dance routines and the Masuk Drama Club will act out a skit from their upcoming show "Working".
Food will also be cooked on a grill.
