The Week Ahead: Education, Fresh Produce & a Color Guard Competition

Monroe AccuWeather: Starting out at 43 degrees Monday, before afternoon snow Tuesday with the temperature dropping to 20-degrees and a low of seven degrees. Frigid temperatures to continue through Friday, before the mercury rises to the 30's by the weekend. Snow flurries are possible on Thursday.

Monday: Monroe Town Hall, Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, Monroe Food Pantry, the Monroe Senior Center and the Highway Department are closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Tuesday: Adult Writers' Workshop at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library, 733 Monroe Turnpike, 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday: Enroll at Stepaway Preschool, 423 Main Street, for 2014-2015 school year. Visit classes at 9:30 a.m.

College Prep: FAFSA Talk at Edith Wheeler Memorial Library at 6:30 p.m. Do not be fooled by the opinion that you make too much money to obtain financial aid.

Thursday: Power Network: Professional Educational Series at Women's Collaborative Center, 500 Monroe Tnpk, Suite 16, at from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

Friday: Benedict's Winter Farmers Market, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Benedict's Home & Garden, 480 Purdy Hill Road.

Saturday: Masuk High School hosts Winterguard Competition, at 4 p.m.
