Vegan and Gluten-Free on the Menu at New Monroe Eatery
In business since January, Terra Café's hallmark is its healthy menu.
MONROE, CT --- As veganism has grown over 500 percent in the U.S. since 2014, and with six percent of Americans identifying as vegans, menus have had to adapt to stay competitive. No longer just the mainstay of quirky neighborhoods in Burlington or Manhattan, full-on vegan restaurants are starting to squeeze out the steakhouses on Main Streets across the country.
On Main Street in Monroe, Bridgeport resident Debora Cabra and her husband, Manuel Rocha, are riding that healthy vegan wave. They opened the Terra Café in January, an eatery boasting a menu of breakfast and lunch items from breakfast burritos with tofu to vegan paninis and wraps. Many other vegan and gluten-free options, including Acai bowls, fresh soups, smoothies and coffee from Portugal flesh out the healthy menu.
Terra Café, at 150 Main Street, is open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
