Virtual Meetings Scheduled For Monroe Budget

Residents can comment ahead of time on the budget.

MONROE, CT — The Board of Finance will conduct two virtual public hearings on the town budget. The yare scheduled for April 23 and May 14.

April 23 meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Residents can call in at 978-990-5215 access code: 1161694#. Residents can submit written comments via email beforehand.

The Board of Finance has to finalize and vote on the budget no later than May 20. It may vote during the May 14 remote meeting. The final budget will be adopted between June 2 and 5 and the mill rate will be set.

First Selectman Ken Kellogg is asking the Board of Finance to adopt a budget with zero increase to the tax rate due to economic hardship imposed by the coronavirus. The previous budget proposal came with an estimated 2.6 percent tax increase.
