FREE Hearth Cooking Program for Kids
Hempsted Houses offer program in New London this Friday, Sept. 25

Youth ages 11 and up are invited to participate in a free hearth cooking workshop where they will prepare dinner in the historic kitchen of the Nathaniel Hempsted House.
The program runs from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Hempsted Houses, 11 Hempstead St. in New London.
Space is limited. Please reserve a spot by emailing hempsted@ctlandmarks.org or calling the Hempsted site at 860-443-7949.The Chester Kitchings Family Foundation is sponsoring the event.
Hempsted staff members will lead the students in preparing a tasty dinner of contemporary and modern fare – including a dessert pie over the hearth.
Students will get to try 18th century cooking methods and kitchen chores. New London historian and Hempsted Houses Site Historian Sally Ryan will be in the kitchen sharing fun tales of the past.
