L+M Hospital’s new cancer center that’s under construction in Waterford has passed a few milestones, including raising more than $17 million in private donations.
During a “quiet phase” of fundraising the hospital appealed to corporate and private donors for support but now they’re expanding their appeal to the public for the remaining $13 million.

Supporters of the center will be participating in public presentations and hosting informational meetings at their homes.
The cancer center, which is being built off exit 81 in Waterford, will provide treatment and services for cancer patients who would otherwise have to drive to New Haven or Boston. A report in The Day said, “it’s a unique affiliation with the Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and will also provide services in partnership with Yale-New Haven Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital in Providence.”
