Longtime Montville Deputy Fire Chief Dies
A fundraiser has been started for the family of Don Kutz, who served the department for 52 years.
MONTVILLE, CT — Montville Fire Deputy Chief Don Kutz died unexpectedly after 52 years with the department. A GoFundMe has been started in his memory.
"He was dedicated to a life of service," Darlene Szawerda wrote on the GoFundMe page. "He served in both the Army and Air Force. He was a 52 year member of the Montville Fire Department and an EMT."
Montville fire said in a Facebook post: "We are sad to announce the passing of Past Chief, life member and current Deputy Chief Don Kutz. Don has been with the Montville Fire Department for 52 years as a very dedicated fire fighter/ EMT. Don will be greatly missed by all. On behalf of all the Officers and Members of the Montville Volunteer Fire Department, we send our deepest condolences to his family. No arrangements have been made at this time."
