Montville Coronavirus Update: Mohegan Sun Spa Layoffs

MONTVILLE, CT — OneSpaWorld will lay off 51 workers for an indefinite period, according to a letter sent to the Connecticut Department of Labor. The company operates Mandara Spa at the casino.

"Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, OneSpaWorld will experience a plant closure resulting in a reduction in its workforce and a number of employees being laid off," the document reads. "The entire facility will be closed indefinitely... OneSpaWorld will reopen the plant as soon as possible in accordance with federal, state and local laws."

The first date of layoffs was March 17. The move has affected a variety of job positions including hair stylists, massage therapists, spa concierges and operations managers.
