Montville, East Lyme To Join Regional Animal Control Facility

New London is spearheading the effort, which will include Montville, East Lyme and Waterford.

NEW LONDON, CT — Montville will team with New London, Waterford and East Lyme in the creation of a Regional Animal Control Facility, according to New London officials. The four communities have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to pursue the project.

The new facility would be an expansion of New London's existing facility at Bates Woods Park (80 Chester Street). Officials said the purpose of a regional facility is to reduce operating costs and enhance services for all partnering municipalities, according to a release.

The newly adopted memorandum is the first step in developing an inter-local agreement that will govern the future operations and cost sharing program for the new facility, officials said.
