Creative Potential came from the idea that every child or youth has a little Creative Potential within them and it just needs to be found with in them and shown to themselves and their family.

The business was originally started as a home business in Montville, Conn. and recently moved to a office in New London due to growth and bringing on more workers to serve our clients. Although our office is in New London, we do our real work in the community that the child/ youth lives in and surrounding towns. In our opinion every town is our home as we go where we are needed to meet the need of the families.

What business are you in?

We are in the business of preserving families and helping youth to find their voice and life skills. So often we get referrals for youth that are having behavior issues or families that are in immediate need of help and we often come to find that the youth are frustrated that no one understands them and they keep trying to tell the adults what they need or want. This is where we step in and help these families and youth. We are a skilled team that is able to trouble shoot communication, behavior, and at times mental issues that prevent a family from preforming at their highest or best Creative Potential.

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

As a business owner the most difficult challenge I have faced is finding a line between work and family. Each case we take on our team looks for ways to help or make the situation better. We are always looking for local programs and services that will help our clients even after we are no longer on the case. The time we spend with clients is always limited so we have to make the most from each visit to ensure our families cases close out with skills, problem solving skills and more to make their life easier and more manageable through using skills sets they have perfected.

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?

Some of our proudest moments we have had are our clients that contact use when cases are closed because they need us to trouble shoot with them. We have had children return to their families after being removed and stayed home after working on skills such as going to school and simply checking in with parental figures when leaving, and much more. We have recently had a client be accepted into a college of choice after his/her mentor helped her fill her college applications and tour a college and now he/she leaves for college this year.

How does your business give back to the community?

Our business gives back to our community by seeking out agencies that need help such as serving food, making Christmas gifts to give to nursing home clients, benefit raising 5K runs and where ever the need comes up that we feel we can give. We try to involve our clients that are age appropriate to do these things to show that others are in need and the importance to pay it forward when ever we can so that they are meeting the needs of others in need of help.
