Obituary: Joseph M. Andruskiewicz, 59, Of Norwich

"He will be remembered as someone with a big heart, great sense of humor and a great gift for conversation."

NORWICH, CT - Joseph M. Andruskiewicz, 59, a lifelong resident of Norwich, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017. Born in Norwich on Sept. 7, 1958 he was the son of the late John F. and Gwlayds (Moore) Andruskiewicz. Joseph grew up in Norwich and was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy class of 1976 and worked for many years as a boilermaker with the Boilermakers' Union, often in different areas of the country. Most of his career was spent at Electric Boat. More recently, he worked at the Franklin Elementary School as head custodian. Joe loved sports, though some questioned his loyalty, he remained a true fan of the New York Yankees, Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Lakers. He will be remembered as someone with a big heart, great sense of humor and a great gift for conversation. He is survived by two sons, Brian Andruskiewicz and wife Sara and Robert Andruskiewicz and wife Rita; grandson Jack William Andruskiewicz; two brothers, Franklyn Andruskiewicz and wife Elizabeth and David Andruskiewicz; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers, Michael Przelomiec, John F. Andruskiewicz, Jr., Bernard Andruskiewicz, Peter Andruskiewicz, Steven Andruskiewicz and Kenneth Andruskiewicz. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 22, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave, Norwich. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
