Police K9 Falls Down Rock Wall During Search for Missing Woman
Montville police were assisting with a search for a missing woman when K9 Porter fell 20-feet down a wall in Rocky Neck State Park.

State Police K9 Porter was injured in a fall at Rocky Neck State Park while searching for a missing woman, Connecticut State Police Trooper First Class Kelly Grant stated in a press release.
At approximately 9:40 p.m. Monday, April 18, Troop E of Montville was assisting the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection with a search for a missing 49-year-old woman reported in Rocky Neck State Park.
At the time of the request, the Troop E K9 was unavailable. Porter, the Troop F-Westbrook K9, was dispatched to the scene. He and his handler TFC Matthew Warren, immediately responded to Rocky Neck State Park to assist DEEP with the search of the missing female.
"At approximately 11:30 p.m., during the course of the search, TFC Warren notified dispatch that K9 Porter had fallen approximately 20’ off a rock wall," Grant stated. "TFC Warren and K9 Porter were assisted back to TFC Warren’s state police cruiser, and K9 Porter was transported to an emergency veterinarian’s office for the evaluation of an injury to his right front leg."
Grant said she is awaiting notice as to whether Porter's leg is broken. He was treated and released, and will be out of work while he recuperates, she said. The missing woman was later found safe, according to police.
