Rep. Ryan Appointed Deputy Speaker Of The House

State Representative Kevin Ryan (D- Bozrah, Montville, Norwich) has been appointed by House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter (D-Hartford) to serve as Deputy House Speaker.

"I am thrilled that Kevin will continue to serve as Deputy House Speaker," said House Speaker-designate Matt Ritter. "His years of experience, especially in this role, will be crucial in ensuring that the upcoming session runs as smoothly as possible."

The Deputy Speaker presides over the House of Representatives when the Speaker of the House is absent from the chamber.

Rep. Ryan serves the towns of Bozrah, Montville and Norwich in the 139th House District. He has been a member of the Connecticut General Assembly since 1993 and has served as Deputy Speaker since 2013. In addition to his role as Deputy Speaker, Rep. Ryan is also a member of the Appropriations, Environment, and Public Health committees. He was also named the National Vice Chair of the Council of State Governments during the summer.
