Report: Homes Evacuated After Gas Line Hit
The power and gas is restored in Montville after a cable crew inadvertently cut a gas line, forcing a neighborhood to be evacuated Tuesday.

MONTVILLE, CT — It's reported that five homes wee evacuated late Tuesday afternoon after a natural gas line to a house was struck.
At around 4:15 p.m., the first reports came in of a natural gas leak on Old Colchester Road. Soon, nearby homes began being evacuated. A number of streets wee affected including Cottonwood Lane, Joy Lane and Amanda Court.
Within less than 30 minutes, a number of fire companies were on the scene. It was reported at 4:45 that the gas leak was still "active" and gas company personnel were en route. Reports of five or more homes were evacuated.

An Eversource spokesperson confirmed in a call to Patch that a cable crew inadvertently cut a gas line. Emergency personnel evacuated homes in the area near Montville High School on Cottonwood and Joy lanes and Amanda Court as a safety measure. The utility cut the power to nearby customers also as a precaution. The power was restored at around 5:30 and the gas line was fixed and gas back up by around 6:30.
