Thanksgiving Wrong-Way Driver Arrested
In the middle of the night, troopers arrested a wrong way driver heading onto I-395. Faissal A. Awad, 61, of Norwich was charged with DUI.
MONTVILLE, CT — This time the wrong-way driver was stopped, and arrested. Thankfully.
It was around 2 a.m., on Thanksgiving morning when a flood of 911 calls altered police to a driver traveling westbound on the eastbound lanes of Route 2A in Montville.
Faissal A. Awad, 61, of 125 Mckinley Ave., 1st Fl., Norwich, was charged with driving drunk and reckless endangerment.

Troopers responded to the area where the Subaru Outback was seen going the wrong way. They spotted the car going northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate-395 near exit 13 in Norwich. State Trooper Sgt. Tewell was able to stop the car and arrest Awad.

He was charged with driving under the influence, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, and first-degree reckless endangerment and held on a $5,000 bond. He's set to be arraigned today, Friday, Nov. 29, at the Norwich Superior Court.
In late October, a wrong-way driver in the same general area traveled for nine miles before being pulled over.
In early October, three people were killed when an 18-year-old girl drove the wrong way on I-95 and collided with a car.
