Winter Storm Watch Issued For Montville

MONTVILLE, CT — A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for northern and southern New London County from midnight on Thursday, Jan. 4, through midnight on Friday, Jan. 5, according to the National Weather Service.

As much as six inches of snow or more could fall in the area during the period, and heavy winds are also expected.

THURSDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including the morning and evening commute on Thursday. Total snow accumulations of 6 or more inches are possible.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Connecticut and Suffolk County on Long Island.

* WHEN...From late Wednesday night through Thursday evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind gusts between 30 to 40 mph are possible. This may result in blowing and drifting of snow. Significant reductions in visibility are possible.

Wednesday Night: Snow likely, mainly after midnight. Increasing clouds, with a low around 20. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. Light and variable wind becoming north 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Thursday: Snow. High near 28. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 9.

Friday: Partly sunny and cold, with a high near 13. Breezy.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -2.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near 9.
