Last week, the school system tested nearly 550 students and staffers at the high school and Saxe, and no positives were reported, said First Selectman Kevin Moynihan Monday in a message to residents.
But despite that success, the town has seen more than 50 positives at the end of last week and over the weekend. Statewide, coronavirus cases are rising, with more than 1,500 new confirmed cases in the past day.

"We continue to see cases spread from gatherings, dinner parties, out of town caregivers, house cleaners and not unexpectedly within families," Moynihan said. "This rapid case increase over the weekend illustrates how fast community transmission spreads and accelerates."
