2,000 Still Without Power In New Canaan After Last Week's Storm
The number of outages represents just over 23 percent of New Canaan.
NEW CANAAN, CT — About 2,000 Eversource customers in New Canaan remained without power as of 1 p.m. on Monday, a week following Tropical Storm Isaias, the embattled utility company announced.
The number of outages represents just over 23 percent of New Canaan. Statewide, nearly 80,000 of Eversources's customers still were without power Monday afternoon.
The utility company, which has come under fire for its poor response to the Aug. 4, said it had 4,500 crews deployed around Connecticut working on power restoration as of Monday.

"Many residents had power restored over the weekend but a number of town roads remain without power at this time due to major infrastructure damage to Eversource equipment in several areas in town," said New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan in a statement on the town's website.
"Our Public Works crews are continuing to work with Eversource to remove trees that are leaning on power lines and preventing restoration of homes nearby."

Soon after the storm hit, more than 85 percent of New Canaan lost power, and on Monday, complaints were still coming in from some customers:
Hey @EversourceCT we have a live wire down at 34-40 Dan’s Highway in New Canaan. 6 days to clean up? Unacceptable! We’ve been patient long enough. There are 4 residents here over 70 and I hope we don’t have an emergency because no vehicles can get to the houses on lane!

Since late last week, the town has provided device charging and cooling sites, in addition to free Wi-Fi and showers for residents. Click here for more information.
"Although most downed power wires on roads have been repaired please remember that downed wires anywhere are very dangerous and should not be walked or driven over and please do not cross barriers," Moynihan said.
