2 New Canaan Lacrosse Stars Drafted By CT Professional Team
Michael Kraus, from the National Champion University of Virginia, was selected 2nd overall. Brandon Salvatore from Cornell was chosen 32nd.
NEW CANAAN, CT — A pair of New Canaan lacrosse players were drafted this week by the Connecticut Hammerheads of Major League Lacrosse, the team and league announced. The MLL, which has been around for more than 20 years, has postponed its 2020 season due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic; a start date has not been determined.
Drafted in the First Round with the number two pick (second overall) was attackman Michael Kraus, who played for New Canaan High School and the 2019 National Champion University of Virginia.
At UVA, Kraus ended his stellar career a two-time captain; a two-time Tewaaraton Trophy nominee; tied for fourth all-time with 240 points at the university; seventh all-time with 131 goals; and sixth all-time with 109 career assists.

Selected in the Sixth Round with the 32nd pick was long-stick midfielder Brandon Salvatore, who played for the Taft School and Cornell University.
Salvatore was a decorated player at Cornell, who was known for his defense and willingness to work hard.

The Hammerheads, which will play at Fairfield University, will be playing in its inaugural season when the season begins.
In addition to Kraus and Salvatore, the Hammerheads also drafted:
- Round 2, Pick 8: Aidan Hynes, Defenseman, Yale
- Round 3, Pick 17: Michael Brown, Defense/Midfield, Brown
- Round 4, Pick 20: Ben Martin, Attackman, Dartmouth
- Round 7, Pick 38: Will Renz, Defensive midfielder, Yale
- Round 8, Pick 44: Charlie Bertrand, Attackman, Merrimack
