Water Main Cleaning Project To Begin Next Week In New Canaan
Water main cleaning is scheduled to take place in New Canaan from this month until early August, according to Aquarion Water Company.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Aquarion Water Company announced Friday a water main cleaning project is scheduled to take place in New Canaan beginning Monday.
According to a news release, the project, which is expected to be completed Aug. 6, is being undertaken to ensure New Canaan customers continue to receive the highest quality water.
While the project is underway, customers may notice some discoloration in their water resulting from the temporary disturbance of the water flow, which stirs up naturally occurring minerals that settle in water mains, according to the company.

Aquarion recommends customers store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking and refrain from washing laundry if their water is discolored. Customers should also run their cold water faucets until the water appears clear before using it again, according to the company.
Work on the project will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. The first week’s cleaning schedule is included below:
