Dog Found That Bit 12-Year-Old New Canaan Boy: UPDATE
The child was bitten near Kiwanis Park on Monday evening.
NEW CANAAN, CT — New Canaan Animal Control Officer Allyson Halm has located a dog that bit a 12-year-old New Canaan boy near Kiwanis Park Monday evening, police officials announced Wednesday morning.
"As a result of assistance from the public and a continued investigative effort by Animal Control Officer Halm the owner of the dog has been identified," officials said. No additional information was disclosed.
The child was bitten by the dog, described as a medium-sized black mixed breed, at about 6:30 p.m. The dog was one of two on leashes that was being walked near the park.

Time was of the essence to find the offending animal, according to Halm, because the boy could have been exposed to rabies and would need a series of vaccine shots to treat.
