Checks Stolen from Two Good Samaritans
Cash and checks were stolen from two men who had let a woman live in their home who needed a place to stay.

Two New Canaan men who allowed a woman who needed a place to live to stay in their home temporarily later discovered that some of their checks had been used to withdraw money from their bank accounts, New Canaan police said.
Some of the checks that were cashed were made out to the woman who was staying with them or had her endorsement on them, according to police. No charges have been filed against the woman, and police are continuing to investigate the matter.
The woman stayed at the home starting in early March. In early April, one of the men noticed $300 in cash missing fro his room. He confronted the woman, who denied taking it. Days later, on April 11 or 12 he noticed that a $100 check he didn’t write had been cashed. He later found five checks not written by him, endorsed by three different names of people listed as payees on the checks. The amount of the checks totaled $390.
