Coronavirus Hits 3 Age 20 & Under In New Canaan: First Selectman

The new positive tests are the first in town in a couple of weeks.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Two New Canaan girls and a boy, all between the ages of 14 and 20, tested positive for the coronavirus last week, the first new cases of COVID-19 in town in the past couple of weeks, according to First Selectman Kevin Moynihan.

All three are asymptomatic, and following their positive tests, two have already retested negative, according to Moynihan, and the third patient is isolating at home.

"New Canaan went almost two full weeks with no new positive tests, indicating that community transmission remains low but that the virus is still present and we must continue to remain vigilant," Moynihan said in a statement on the town's website.

"The health and safety of all our residents remains of utmost importance to the Town of New Canaan," Moynihan said. "We remind you that if you travel to any of the states on the Governor’s list of coronavirus hot states except for less than 24 hours you must quarantine for 14 days upon your return home.

"Please continue to wear masks when social distancing cannot be achieved and when masks are required indoors in public places and continue to wash or sanitize hands when in contact with public surfaces."
