DUI Arrest After Woman Drives Car On New Canaan Park Path: PD

The Stamford woman's vehicle became wedged on a walking path at Waveny Park, police said.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A 59-year-old Stamford woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence over the weekend after New Canaan police said she got her car stuck on a walking path at Waveny Park.

Maureen Mullins, of Coachlamp Lane, was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, after officers were called to the park about a car traveling on a walking path, which is prohibited.

"Responding officers located the vehicle being operated by Mullins wedged against the wooden guard rail," police said. No injuries were reported.

Upon speaking to Mullins, "officers detected signs of impairment," and they administered sobriety tests, which Mullins failed, police said.

In addition to the DUI charge, Mullins also was charged under the town's ordinance for driving on a walking path at the park.

Mullins refused to provide police with a blood alcohol content sample, and was released after posting a $250. She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 18.
