Fotis Dulos-Built New Canaan Home Up For Auction: Report

The house on Sturbridge Hill Road is under foreclosure.

NEW CANAAN, CT — One of the foreclosed homes in New Canaan built by the late Fotis Dulos is up for auction on June 26, reported the New Canaan Advertiser.

The 9,424-square-foot home on Sturbridge Hill Road is currently listed as off-the-market by the real estate website realtor.com, but it had been for sale for $3,975,000 in late 2019.

Built by Dulos' former luxury home construction firm, the Fore Group, the colonial-style home has five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a host of upscale finishes. It rests on 2.43 acres.

Prior to December 2019, the home had been listed for $4.8 million before the asking price was reduced.

The Sturbridge Hill Road house is under foreclosure by the Savings Bank of Danbury, and the auction is scheduled for noon on the 26th (viewings start at 11 a.m.). According to the Advertiser, the bank is trying to recoup some or all of more than $3 million it has in the house, including the construction loan to Dulos, and other fees, penalties and costs.

Bidders have to bring a certified check or bank check in the amount of $365,000 — 10 percent of the appraisal price of $3.65 million — which will be turned over immediately upon a successful bid.

Dulos, who died following a suicide attempt in early 2020, was facing murder and kidnapping charges in connection with the disappearance of his estranged wife, Jennifer Farber Dulos. The couple were in the midst of an acrimonious divorce at the time of her disappearance.

A mother of five, Jennifer Dulos vanished from her New Canaan home, a different one, on May 24, 2019; she is presumed dead, and her body has not been found.

Fotis Dulos died before he could stand trial, but two people accused of assisting him in the plot still have cases pending.
