Grace Farms Hosts Discussion On Preventing Wildlife Trafficking

The Sept. 21 event will bring together international wildlife professionals.

From Grace Farms: NEW CANAAN, CT — Grace Farms Foundation will host a unique collaboration between its Nature and Justice Initiatives, Protecting Wildlife | New Strategies to Combat Wildlife Trafficking, on Friday, Sept. 21 from 7:30-9 pm at Grace Farms, providing expert training to law enforcement task forces working to dismantle the transnational organized crime syndicates responsible for wildlife trafficking. The free event, which is open to the public, underscores the Foundation's commitment to the enforcement of international illegal wildlife trafficking by leading trainings, workshops, and on-the-job-training that aim to support government leaders on active criminal cases.

Justice Initiative Director Rod Khattabi and Nature Initiative Director Mark Fowler will present, having recently led a Special Investigative Group workshop in Tanzania, Africa, investigating six live illegal wildlife trafficking cases that link Tanzania and Mozambique. Two participants from the training, Robert Mande, Chairman of the National Anti-Poaching Task Force and Assistant Director of the Anti-Poaching Wildlife Division in Tanzania and Sean O’Regan, Director of Freeland Africa and Chief Technical Advisor for Freeland, will also speak.

Mande and O’Reagan will discuss the successes of the Tanzanian National Anti-Poaching Strategy and the new strategies that Grace Farms Foundation and Freeland Foundation have partnered on to combat transnational wildlife trafficking.
