FARMINGTON, CT — Under a recently reached agreement, the family of missing New Canaan mom Jennifer Farber Dulos waived their interest in her late husband's estate, meaning a probate judge does not have to declare her dead before estate funds can be accessed, writes the Stamford Advocate.

Jennifer Dulos has been missing since May 24, 2019, and authorities presume she was killed by Fotis Dulos, her estranged husband, who had been charged with kidnapping and murder in connection with the case.

The couple was in the midst of a contentious divorce and custody battle over their five children at the time of Jennifer Dulos' disappearance. The children are being raised by Jennifer's mother, Gloria Farber.

Fotis Dulos took his own life in January of last year, leaving behind a $194,000 IRA. Because Jennifer Dulos' family waived its rights to it, Fotis Dulos' estate can access it to begin paying debts.

Farmington Probate Judge Evelyn Daly still must approve the agreement, which was reached by attorney Christopher Hug for Fotis Dulos' estate and guardian ad litem Peter Jay Alter for Jennifer Dulos' family.

Though Fotis Dulos died before he could stand trial, two people accused of assisting him still have pending charges in the case.

Michelle Troconis, Fotis Dulos' former girlfriend, is due back in court on May 25, and attorney and former friend Kent Mawhinney is due back in court on June 21.
