Is Kent Mawhinney Seeking Plea Deal In Jennifer Dulos Case?
The attorney for Michelle Troconis claims Mawhinney spoke to state police in late summer while still in custody.

STAMFORD, CT — In a new court filing, the attorney for Michelle Troconis has requested information on a meeting between Kent Mawhinney and law enforcement in connection with the Jennifer Farber Dulos case.
Mawhinney and Troconis are facing conspiracy to commit murder charges in connection with Dulos' disappearance last year. Attorney Jon Schoenhorn's motion insinuates that Mawhinney may be seeking to cut a deal with authorities in the case.
Patch reached out to Lee Gold and Jeremy Donnelly, Mawhinney's attorneys, for comment but did not receive a reply. Schoenhorn did not offer a comment after he was reached by Patch; he filed the motion with Stamford Superior Court on Monday.

Schoenhorn is seeking the following information from an Aug. 31 meeting between Mawhinney and state police investigators: "Reports prepared by law enforcement agents and employees based either on notes or on review of the video of the August 31, 2020 interview of Mawhinney."

Additionally, Schoenhorn is also seeking notes and correspondence between law enforcement and Mawhinney's attorneys; notes from the interview and subsequent statements; and other materials.
"All statements, admissions and/or alleged 'confessions' made by any co-defendant, whether oral, recorded, or in writing, including by not limited to any statements made by Fotis Dulos or other unnamed third parties, whom the state alleges were involved in some aspect of the crime(s) charged," Schoenhorn wrote.
Schoenhorn also wants all correspondence, if there is any, between Chief State's Attorney Richard Colangelo and Mawhinney's attorneys if they discussed "the potential for cooperation, consideration, benefit, rewards, understandings or agreements (including agreements pertaining to release from custody) or other favorable action, in exchange for Mawhinney's cooperation in the investigation or prosecution of this case."
Mawhinney was arrested in January. The August meeting with investigators occurred while he was still in custody. He was released on bond in October; Troconis also is free on bond.
Jennifer Dulos is presumed dead after vanishing from her New Canaan home May 24, 2019. Her body has not been found. Fotis Dulos, her estranged husband, was charged with kidnapping and murder. He took his life in January before he could stand trial.
Mawhinney is a former friend and attorney of Fotis Dulos, while Troconis is Fotis' former girlfriend. The two are accused of assisting Fotis in the crime and/or cover up, and both have pleaded not guilty.
Troconis' next scheduled court appearance is Jan. 25; Mawhinney is next scheduled to appear in court Feb. 1.
